Perth Central Area Transit - Bus Fleets

Bus Fleets

The Perth CAT bus fleet consists of 23 Volgren bodied Mercedes-Benz OC500LE units that are fuelled by compressed natural gas. In addition to the designated fleet, several "silver-and-green" buses of the same type are used as spares. Some have been repainted in CAT Livery for use on the cats.

The Fremantle CAT fleet consists of three Mercedes-Benz O405NH units and the Joondalup CAT fleet consists of two Mercedes-Benz O405NH units.

The fleet of natural gas-powered buses was progressively introduced from August 20, 2005, and replaced sixteen diesel-hydraulic engine powered, Danish built Scania-DAB Silkeborg MidCity Series II 0860S low-floor, wheelchair accessible city buses, first introduced in 1996.

The CAT buses replaced the original City Clipper which ran through the original sections of Perth.

Famous quotes containing the words bus and/or fleets:

Nora was always free with it and threw her heart away as if it was a used bus ticket.
    Angela Carter (1940–1992)

So, when my days of impotence approach,
And I’m by pox and wine’s unlucky chance
Forced from the pleasing billows of debauch
On the dull shore of lazy temperance,
My pains at least some respite shall afford
While I behold the battles you maintain
When fleets of glasses sail about the board,
From whose broadsides volleys of wit shall rain.
John Wilmot, 2d Earl Of Rochester (1647–1680)
