National Persian Gulf's Day

In January 2004, PGO offered Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance to adopt a new national day in Iran with the name of "National Persian Gulf's Day". It was approved by the government in July 2005 and since then a new national added to official Persian calendar.

PGO had also offered the government to publish Persian Gulf stamps but it was rejected.

Famous quotes containing the words national, persian, gulf and/or day:

    I submit all my plays to the National Theatre for rejection. To assure myself I am seeing clearly.
    Howard Barker (b. 1946)

    Oh! thou clear spirit of clear fire, whom on these seas I as Persian once did worship, till in the sacramental act so burned by thee, that to this hour I bear the scar; I now know thee, thou clear spirit, and I now know that thy right worship is defiance. To neither love nor reverence wilt thou be kind; and e’en for hate thou canst but kill; and all are killed. No fearless fool now fronts thee.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)

    And into the gulf between cantankerous reality and the male ideal of shaping your world, sail the innocent children. They are right there in front of us—wild, irresponsible symbols of everything else we can’t control.
    Hugh O’Neill (20th century)

    Oh, many a day have I made good ale in the glen,
    That came not of stream, or malt, like the brewing of men;
    My bed was the ground, my roof the greenwood above,
    And the wealth that I sought, one far kind glance from my love.
    —Unknown. The Outlaw of Loch Lene (l. 1–4)
