Peppermint Bark - Recipes and Ingredients

Recipes and Ingredients

The recipe for peppermint bark uses few ingredients, with only chocolate and mint candies required. Paula Deen's recipe for the Food Network also adds peppermint flavoring as an optional extra. The candies used may be candy canes. The candies should be broken up, and the chocolate is melted. These two ingredients are combined on a baking sheet and then chilled until firm. The bark is then removed from the sheet and broken into pieces in a similar way to peanut brittle.

Variations on peppermint bark can include a two-toned layered type, where a bottom layer of dark chocolate is covered with the white chocolate and crushed mint layer on top. This particular variation also includes Ghirardelli's Peppermint Bark Squares.

Famous quotes containing the words recipes and/or ingredients:

Science means simply the aggregate of all the recipes that are always successful. All the rest is literature.
    Paul Valéry (1871–1945)

A sociosphere of contact, control, persuasion and dissuasion, of exhibitions of inhibitions in massive or homeopathic doses...: this is obscenity. All structures turned inside out and exhibited, all operations rendered visible. In America this goes all the way from the bewildering network of aerial telephone and electric wires ... to the concrete multiplication of all the bodily functions in the home, the litany of ingredients on the tiniest can of food, the exhibition of income or IQ.
    Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)
