Pentakis Dodecahedron - Geometric Variations

Geometric Variations

Its construction is topologically the same as that of:

  1. The small stellated dodecahedron (with very tall pyramids).
  2. Great pentakis dodecahedron (with extremely tall pyramids)
  3. Wenninger's third stellation of icosahedron (with inverted pyramids).

If one affixes pentagrammic pyramids into Wenninger's third stellation of icosahedron one obtains the great icosahedron.

Famous quotes containing the words geometric and/or variations:

New York ... is a city of geometric heights, a petrified desert of grids and lattices, an inferno of greenish abstraction under a flat sky, a real Metropolis from which man is absent by his very accumulation.
    Roland Barthes (1915–1980)

I may be able to spot arrowheads on the desert but a refrigerator is a jungle in which I am easily lost. My wife, however, will unerringly point out that the cheese or the leftover roast is hiding right in front of my eyes. Hundreds of such experiences convince me that men and women often inhabit quite different visual worlds. These are differences which cannot be attributed to variations in visual acuity. Man and women simply have learned to use their eyes in very different ways.
    Edward T. Hall (b. 1914)
