Pennant Hills Railway Station

Pennant Hills Railway Station

Pennant Hills station on Sydney's CityRail network serves the suburb of Pennant Hills in Sydney's Hills District. Opening in 1886, this station lies on the Northern line leading from Berowra in the north through to North Sydney station via Strathfield and Central. In recent years the station has undergone an upgrade. It has significant patronage due to the people of neighbouring suburbs Cherrybrook and West Pennant Hills utilising it. The station consists of two side platforms and two running tracks, the "Up" and "Down" Main North Lines. Immediately north of Pennant Hills, a four track section of the Main North line begins which runs to the next station of Thornleigh.

Famous quotes containing the words pennant, hills, railway and/or station:

They are preparing to begin again:
Problems, new pennant up the flagpole
    In a predicated romance.
    John Ashbery (b. 1927)

    O my soul’s joy,
If after every tempest come such calms,
May the winds blow till they have wakened death!
And let the laboring bark climb hills of seas
Olympus-high, and duck again as low
    As hell’s from heaven!
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

Her personality had an architectonic quality; I think of her when I see some of the great London railway termini, especially St. Pancras, with its soot and turrets, and she overshadowed her own daughters, whom she did not understand—my mother, who liked things to be nice; my dotty aunt. But my mother had not the strength to put even some physical distance between them, let alone keep the old monster at emotional arm’s length.
    Angela Carter (1940–1992)

...I believe it is now the duty of the slaves of the South to rebuke their masters for their robbery, oppression and crime.... No station or character can destroy individual responsibility, in the matter of reproving sin.
    Angelina Grimké (1805–1879)
