Passing Loop - Line Capacity

Line Capacity

Line capacity is partly determined by the distance between individual crossing loops. Ideally these should be located at inverse integer intervals along the track by travel time. The longest section between successive crossing loops will, like the weakest link in a chain, determine the overall line capacity.

Famous quotes containing the words line and/or capacity:

Anybody who’s been through a divorce will tell you that at one point ... they’ve thought murder. The line between thinking murder and doing murder isn’t that major.
    Oliver Stone (b. 1946)

The capacity to give one’s attention to a sufferer is a very rare and difficult thing; it is almost a miracle; it is a miracle. Nearly all those who think they have this capacity do not possess it. Warmth of heart, impulsiveness, pity are not enough.
    Simone Weil (1909–1943)
