Film References
Walt Disney Productions' 1977 musical film Pete's Dragon starring Helen Reddy and Mickey Rooney takes place in the fictional town of "Passamaquoddy". The film does not state whether the fictional town is situated on the Maine side or the New Brunswick side. Fictional elements such as the Boathouse suggest the Canadian side, while descriptions of shoreline caves suggest the American side. For several years after the film was released, both Maine and New Brunswick tourist trades featured short tours of purported locations. As the years wore on, many barely related locales made their way onto the tours.

Famous quotes containing the word film:
“The womans world ... is shown as a series of limited spaces, with the woman struggling to get free of them. The struggle is what the film is about; what is struggled against is the limited space itself. Consequently, to make its point, the film has to deny itself and suggest it was the struggle that was wrong, not the space.”
