Unique Station Features
- Flashbird Bridge: Designed by Ed Carpenter and KPFF Engineering, the bridge was meant to be inspired by its location near the Columbia River and the Portland International Airport. The form is meant to suggest a creature that might swim or fly.
- Furniture: Designed by Peter Reiquam, two pieces symbolizing home and office for the direction one is going, adorn the platform.
- Windscreen: Christine Bourdette and Vicki Scuri worked with the project architects to design the windscreen in ceramic frit.

Famous quotes containing the words unique, station and/or features:
“Most women of [the WW II] generation have but one image of good motherhood—the one their mothers embodied. . . . Anything done “for the sake of the children” justified, even ennobled the mother’s role. Motherhood was tantamount to martyrdom during that unique era when children were gods. Those who appeared to put their own needs first were castigated and shunned—the ultimate damnation for a gender trained to be wholly dependent on the acceptance and praise of others.”
—Melinda M. Marshall (20th century)
“With boys you always know where you stand. Right in the path of a hurricane. It’s all there. The fruit flies hovering over their waste can, the hamster trying to escape to cleaner air, the bedrooms decorated in Early Bus Station Restroom.”
—Erma Bombeck (20th century)
“However much we may differ in the choice of the measures which should guide the administration of the government, there can be but little doubt in the minds of those who are really friendly to the republican features of our system that one of its most important securities consists in the separation of the legislative and executive powers at the same time that each is acknowledged to be supreme, in the will of the people constitutionally expressed.”
—Andrew Jackson (1767–1845)
