Paris Concert (Keith Jarrett Album)
Paris Concert is a live solo piano album by American pianist Keith Jarrett, and released by ECM Records. It was recorded on October 17, 1988 at the Salle Pleyel, in Paris, France in front of a live audience.
The first track on the album is simply entitled "October 17, 1988," named after the day of the concert. It is one of Jarrett's unpremeditated solo works; a 38 minute-long improvisation without pause. The second much shorter track, is a ballad by American jazz composers Russ Freeman and Jerry Gladstone entitled "The Wind". Finally, the third track is another shorter piece, an improvised C major blues.
The album was first released on November 26, 1990. It was also one of Jarrett's last solo piano efforts before his problems with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS).

Famous quotes containing the words paris and/or concert:
“We worship not the Graces, nor the Parcæ, but Fashion. She spins and weaves and cuts with full authority. The head monkey at Paris puts on a travellers cap, and all the monkeys in America do the same.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Proportion ... You cant help thinking about it in these London streets, where it doesnt exist.... Its like listening to a symphony of cats to walk along them. Senseless discords and a horrible disorder all the way.... A concert of Brobdingnagian cats. Order has been turned into a disgusting chaos. We need no barbarians from outside; theyre on the premises, all the time.”
—Aldous Huxley (18941963)
