“To lose sensibility, to see what one sees,
As if sight had not its own miraculous thrift,
To hear only what one hears, one meaning alone,
As if the paradise of meaning ceased
To be paradise, it is this to be destitute.”

“If a child were kept in a place where he never saw any other but black and white till he were a man, he would have no more ideas of scarlet or green, than he that from his childhood never tasted an oyster, or a pineapple, has of those particular relishes.”

“It does make a big difference, it is why Robin Hood lives,
crime if you know the reason if you know the motive
if you can understand the character if it is not a
normal one is not interesting a crime in itself is
not interesting it is only there and when it is there
everybody has to take notice of it. It is important
in that way but in every other way it is not
important.”

Is this your love so warm?
The love that loves a scarlet coat

“Tis chastity, my brother, chastity.
She that has that is clad in complete steel,
And like a quivered nymph with arrows keen
May trace huge forests and unharbored heaths,
Infamous hills and sandy perilous wilds,
Where, through the sacred rays of chastity,
No savage fierce, bandit, or mountaineer
Will dare to soil her virgin purity.”
—John Milton (16081674)
