History
In 1992, Anderson, fresh out of business school from the University of Chicago opened the first Panchero's with capital made from the stock market. The first store was opened in Iowa City, next to the University of Iowa campus. His next 10 locations were similar in that they were all in midwestern college towns. It wasn't until 1998 that Panchero's was revamped to include the addition of a dough press, and an updated decor. In 2003 its first non-corporate store opened.

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“What would we not give for some great poem to read now, which would be in harmony with the scenery, for if men read aright, methinks they would never read anything but poems. No history nor philosophy can supply their place.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“... in America ... children are instructed in the virtues of the system they live under, as though history had achieved a happy ending in American civics.”
—Mary McCarthy (19121989)
“The history of work has been, in part, the history of the workers body. Production depended on what the body could accomplish with strength and skill. Techniques that improve output have been driven by a general desire to decrease the pain of labor as well as by employers intentions to escape dependency upon that knowledge which only the sentient laboring body could provide.”
—Shoshana Zuboff (b. 1951)
