Pam Shriver - Personal Life

Personal Life

Shriver was born in Baltimore, Maryland and graduated from McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Maryland. She is a minority owner of the Baltimore Orioles and is active in various charitable organizations. Her first husband, Joe Shapiro, a former Walt Disney Company lawyer, died of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 1999.

In 2002, Shriver married actor George Lazenby. She gave birth to their first child, George, Jr., on July 12, 2004, and to twins, Kate and Sam, on October 1, 2005. Shriver was also stepmother to Lazenby's daughter, Melanie Lazenby, from his previous marriage. The family lived in Brentwood, California. In August 2008, Shriver filed for divorce from Lazenby, citing "irreconcilable differences" for the end of the couple's six-year marriage.

Shriver has two sisters – Marion who died from cancer in 1997 and Eleanor who lives in Maryland – and is the fourth cousin of Maria Shriver, the former First Lady of California.

Famous quotes containing the words personal and/or life:

    Samuel Sewall, in a world of wigs,
    Flouted opinion in his personal hair;
    For foppery he gave not any figs,
    But in his right and honor took the air.
    Anthony Hecht (b. 1923)

    Toiling,—rejoicing,—sorrowing,
    Onward through life he goes;
    Each morning sees some task begin,
    Each evening sees its close;
    Something attempted, something done,
    Has earned a night’s repose.
    Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1809–1882)
