Breakaway Factions
The Pakistan Muslim League was founded in 1962, as a successor to the previously disbanded Muslim League (itself the successor to the pre-partition All-India Muslim League). After the independence and creation, the Muslim League greatly suffered with internal political disagreements, lack of political motives and public reforms, and inadequate administration preparations and mismanagement. In the 1954 general election, it suffered its worst defeat, a brutal, embarrassing loss at the hands of Communist Party of Pakistan in East-Pakistan and the now-defunct Republican Party in the West-Pakistan. In 1970 elections, it also suffered many set backs and only manage to win 2 seats in East-Pakistan while only 10 in West Pakistan. The list below shows the well-known breakaway factions and their relationships with the military, although many minor factions existed throughout the history:
