Pacific Games - Qualification For FIFA World Cup

Qualification For FIFA World Cup

For the first time in 2007, the Pacific Games formed part of the qualification to the FIFA World Cup (see also Football at the 2007 South Pacific Games).

The Pacific Games were, until 2007, open for teams associated to the Oceania Football Confederation only, for example teams from the Federated States of Micronesia or Tuvalu or provisional members of the NF-Board such as Kiribati.

Famous quotes containing the words qualification for, world and/or cup:

Edith: Does anybody want me to flatter and be untruthful? Hotchkiss: Well, since you ask me, I do. Surely it’s the very first qualification for tolerable social intercourse.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)

We look forward to a world founded upon four essential human freedoms. The first is freedom of speech and expression—everywhere in the world. The second is freedom of every person to worship God in his own way—everywhere in the world. The third is freedom from want ... everywhere in the world. The fourth is freedom from fear ... anywhere in the world.
    Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882–1945)

    In poorer lands
No one touches the water of life.
    It has no taste
    And though it refreshes absolutely
It is a cup that must also pass
    Until everybody
    Gets some advantage....
    John Ashbery (b. 1927)
