Famous quotes containing the word recognition:

Tragedy, as you know, is always a fait accompli, whereas terror always has to do with anticipation, with man’s recognition of his own negative potential—with his sense of what he is capable of.
    Joseph Brodsky (b. 1940)

The recognition of Russia on November 16, 1933, started forces which were to have considerable influence in the attempt to collectivize the United States.
    Herbert Hoover (1874–1964)

Design in art, is a recognition of the relation between various things, various elements in the creative flux. You can’t invent a design. You recognise it, in the fourth dimension. That is, with your blood and your bones, as well as with your eyes.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)
