Oxidative Folding - in Prokaryotes

In Prokaryotes

In prokaryotes, the mechanism of oxidative folding is best studied in Gram-negative bacteria. The formation of disulfide bonds in a protein is made possible by two related pathways: an oxidative pathway, which is responsible for the formation of the disulfides, and an isomerization pathway which shuffles incorrectly formed disulfides.
