Owen Glendower (novel)

Owen Glendower is a historical novel by John Cowper Powys first published in America in 1940, and in the UK in February 1942. The ninth of Powys's novels, it was published five years after he had moved to Corwen in North Wales. Powys had returned to England from America in 1934 with his lover, Phyllis Playter, and it reflects "his increasing sense of what he thought of as his bardic heritage." He gave the surname Playter to one of the fictional characters in the book, as a tribute to Phyllis.
