Ovo-lacto Vegetarianism - Religion

Religion

In Hinduism many individuals are either raised as ovo-lacto vegetarians or lacto vegetarians. The cow is considered sacred in Hinduism.

The Bible Christian Church was a Christian vegetarian sect founded by William Cowherd in 1809. Cowherd was one of the philosophical forerunners of the Vegetarian Society founded in 1847. The Bible Christian Church promoted the use of eggs, dairy and honey as God’s given food per "the promised land flowing with milk and honey" (Exodus 3:8).

Many Seventh-day Adventist followers are lacto-ovo vegetarians. For over 130 years, Seventh-day Adventists have recommended a vegetarian diet which may include milk products and eggs.

Famous quotes containing the word religion:

One’s religion is whatever he is most interested in, and yours is Success.
    —J.M. (James Matthew)

The only human beings I have thoroughly admired and respected in the world have been those who carried the load of the world with a smile, and who, in the face of anxieties that would have knocked me clean out, never showed a tremor. Such men and women end by owning us, soul and body, and our allegiance can never be shaken. We are only too glad to be owned. Religion is nothing but this.
    Henry Brooks Adams (1838–1918)

They live together without king, without government, and each is his own master.... Beyond the fact that they have no church, no religion and are not idolaters, what more can I say? They live according to nature, and may be called Epicureans rather than Stoics.
    Amerigo Vespucci (1454–1512)
