Overseas Housing Allowance (United States Military) - Additional Allowances

Additional Allowances

Frequently a "utility allowance" also accompanies OHA. This is usually a flat rate given to the member to cover the cost of utilities, regardless of the actual amount. In certain countries, an additional Move In Housing Allowance (MIHA) is allotted to cover the cost of cleaning, maintenance, repainting, and general refurbishing of the rental unit.

Famous quotes containing the words additional and/or allowances:

The mere existence of an additional child or children in the family could signify Less. Less time alone with parents. Less attention for hurts and disappointments. Less approval for accomplishments. . . . No wonder children struggle so fiercely to be first or best. No wonder they mobilize all their energy to have more or most. Or better still, all.
    Adele Faber (20th century)

Great allowances ought to be made for the petulance of persons laboring under ill-health.
    Samuel Richardson (1689–1761)
