Sports teams include hockey, wrestling, cheerleading, high-intensity badminton, and an American Football team, called the Ottoson Bulldogs. There is also a recently founded cross country club. There is a literary magazine and newspaper, the Ottoson Chronicle, as well as a yearbook team. Boys and Girls Mentoring teams unite middle school and high school students. Clusters elect representatives to OSAC, the Ottoson Student Advisory Council, which plans dances and fund raisers. There is an AM/PM program for students that includes breakfast club, homework club, and sports options. During the 2010-2011 school year, a Gay-Straight Alliance began as an extra curricular club.
Ottoson Middle School participates in the 5-2-1 Jump Up and Go! Program through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts, which provides many additional extra curricular activities for students. They also have an active chapter of World of Difference, a program of the Anti-Defamation League, which trains peer leaders to prevent bullying.

Famous quotes containing the words extra and/or activities:
“But that beginning was wiped out in fear
The day I swung suspended with the grapes,
And was come after like Eurydice
And brought down safely from the upper regions;
And the life I live nows an extra life
I can waste as I please on whom I please.”
—Robert Frost (18741963)
“Both gossip and joking are intrinsically valuable activities. Both are essentially social activities that strengthen interpersonal bondswe do not tell jokes and gossip to ourselves. As popular activities that evade social restrictions, they often refer to topics that are inaccessible to serious public discussion. Gossip and joking often appear together: when we gossip we usually tell jokes and when we are joking we often gossip as well.”
—Aaron Ben-ZeEv, Israeli philosopher. The Vindication of Gossip, Good Gossip, University Press of Kansas (1994)
