Rev. Dr. Otis Gibson (simplified Chinese: 基顺; traditional Chinese: 基順; Pinyin: Jīshùn; Foochow Romanized: Gĭ-sông; December 8, 1826 – January 25, 1889) was a Methodist pastor, best known for his missionary work to the Chinese.
Famous quotes containing the words otis and/or gibson:
“Its not that I dont want to be a beauty, that I dont yearn to be dripping with glamor. Its just that I cant see how any woman can find time to do to herself all the things that must apparently be done to make herself beautiful and, having once done them, how anyone without the strength of mind of a foreign missionary can keep up such a regime.”
—Cornelia Otis Skinner (19011979)
“Power, in Cases world, meant corporate power. The zaibatsus, the multinationals ..., had ... attained a kind of immortality. You couldnt kill a zaibatsu by assassinating a dozen key executives; there were others waiting to step up the ladder; assume the vacated position, access the vast banks of corporate memory.”
—William Gibson (b. 1948)
