“...I didnt come to this with any particular cachet. I was just a person who grew up in the United States. And when I looked around at the people who were sportscasters, I thought they were just people who grew up in the United States, too. So I thought, Why cant a woman do it? I just assumed everyone else would think it was a swell idea.”
—Gayle Gardner, U.S. sports reporter. As quoted in Sports Illustrated, p. 85 (June 17, 1991)
“There are two modes of transport in Los Angeles: car and ambulance. Visitors who wish to remain inconspicuous are advised to choose the latter”

“In another year Ill have enough money saved. Then Im gonna go back to my hometown in Oregon and Im gonna build a house for my mother and myself. And join the country club and take up golf. And Ill meet the proper man with the proper position. And Ill make a proper wife who can run a proper home and raise proper children. And Ill be happy, because when youre proper, youre safe.”
—Daniel Taradash (b. 1913)
