Oscar Zariski (born Oscher Zaritsky (Russian: О́шер Зари́цкий) April 24, 1899, in Kobrin, Russian Empire (today Belarus), died July 4, 1986, Brookline, Massachusetts) was an American mathematician and one of the most influential algebraic geometers of the 20th century.
