Houses
Student care, support and guidance is organised through the Academy’s four Houses.
Each House has a Head of House, a team of tutors and support staff and holds a weekly assembly. Houses also have a number of tutor groups which are made up of students from every year in the Academy.
This is known as a vertical tutoring system and helps the Academy to create a family unit where older students take responsibility for supporting younger students and act as important role models.
The form tutor also has an important role as they monitor the progress of their students as well as their attendance and behaviour.

Famous quotes containing the word houses:
“A feeble man can see the farms that are fenced and tilled, the houses that are built. The strong man sees the possible houses and farms. His eye makes estates, as fast as the sun breeds clouds.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“Peoples backyards are much more interesting than their front gardens, and houses that back on to railways are public benefactors.”
—Sir John Betjeman (19061984)
“The cart before the horse is neither beautiful nor useful. Before we can adorn our houses with beautiful objects the walls must be stripped, and our lives must be stripped, and beautiful housekeeping and beautiful living laid for a foundation.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
