Performance
The Orlov block allocator was shown to offer performance gains on workloads that traverse directory trees on FreeBSD. As of October 2007, only one benchmark result for ext3 with the new allocator seems to have been posted. The results are promising: the time required to traverse through a Linux kernel tree was reduced by roughly 30%.

Famous quotes containing the word performance:
“Tennis is more than just a sport. Its an art, like the ballet. Or like a performance in the theater. When I step on the court I feel like Anna Pavlova. Or like Adelina Patti. Or even like Sarah Bernhardt. I see the footlights in front of me. I hear the whisperings of the audience. I feel an icy shudder. Win or die! Now or never! Its the crisis of my life.”
—Bill Tilden (18931953)
“O world, world! thus is the poor agent despised. O traitors and bawds, how earnestly are you set a-work, and how ill requited! Why should our endeavour be so loved, and the performance so loathed?”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
“Kind are her answers,
But her performance keeps no day;
Breaks time, as dancers,
From their own music when they stray.”
—Thomas Campion (15671620)
