Orlando Sharks - History

History

The Sharks lost their first game to the New Jersey Ironmen, 7-4, on October 27, 2007. After starting the season with 16 consecutive losses, on January 18, 2008, almost 3 months after their inaugural game, the Sharks won their first game in franchise history by defeating the California Cougars, 16-13.

After the MISL folded, the Sharks announced that they would be joining the National Indoor Soccer League for its inaugural season in 2008-09. Lease issues, however, resulted in the team pushing back its NISL entry until the 2009-10 season. Since April 2009, the Sharks have not made anymore team announcements and did not play in the 2009-10 Major Indoor Soccer League season.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

We don’t know when our name came into being or how some distant ancestor acquired it. We don’t understand our name at all, we don’t know its history and yet we bear it with exalted fidelity, we merge with it, we like it, we are ridiculously proud of it as if we had thought it up ourselves in a moment of brilliant inspiration.
    Milan Kundera (b. 1929)

... in a history of spiritual rupture, a social compact built on fantasy and collective secrets, poetry becomes more necessary than ever: it keeps the underground aquifers flowing; it is the liquid voice that can wear through stone.
    Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)

History does nothing; it does not possess immense riches, it does not fight battles. It is men, real, living, who do all this.... It is not “history” which uses men as a means of achieving—as if it were an individual person—its own ends. History is nothing but the activity of men in pursuit of their ends.
    Karl Marx (1818–1883)
