Oregon Student Association - General Assembly Proposal

General Assembly Proposal

In 2008 there was a proposal before the OSA Board to create an additional board known as the General Assembly which would have the authority to direct lobbying efforts, set dues amounts and elect members to the board of directors, functions which the board does now. The proposal was seen by some as an attempt by the three largest schools in the association to increase their say in proportion to the amount of money they contribute in dues per student.

Famous quotes containing the words general and/or assembly:

Everyone confesses in the abstract that exertion which brings out all the powers of body and mind is the best thing for us all; but practically most people do all they can to get rid of it, and as a general rule nobody does much more than circumstances drive them to do.
    Harriet Beecher Stowe (1811–1896)

That man is to be pitied who cannot enjoy social intercourse without eating and drinking. The lowest orders, it is true, cannot imagine a cheerful assembly without the attractions of the table, and this reflection alone should induce all who aim at intellectual culture to endeavor to avoid placing the choicest phases of social life on such a basis.
    Mrs. H. O. Ward (1824–1899)
