After the Columbia accident investigation, the capsule design with a separate escape system was considered the optimal design for crew safety.

Famous quotes containing the words transfer and/or program:

No sociologist ... should think himself too good, even in his old age, to make tens of thousands of quite trivial computations in his head and perhaps for months at a time. One cannot with impunity try to transfer this task entirely to mechanical assistants if one wishes to figure something, even though the final result is often small indeed.
    Max Weber (1864–1920)

In a Kelton church, when a heated argument once began at morning services, a devout old deacon arose from his seat in the ‘amen corner’ and announced he was going to do for the church what the devil had never done—leave it.
—Administration in the State of Sout, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
