Optimus Design Systems (ODS) was a small publisher of role-playing games (RPGs), based in Buffalo, New York. The company produced two products, the Battlelords of the 23rd Century science-fiction role-playing game, and the Blood Dawn post-apocalyptic RPG. ODS produced the first of several editions of Battlelords of the 23rd Century in 1990, followed by several supplements. In addition, it opened two game stores, one in Buffalo, New York and one in Williamsville, New York. ODS was primarily run by its founder, Lawrence R. Sims, who was also the primary author of its products. The company eventually succumbed to financial difficulties. SSDC, Inc. acquired the licenses to these products in 1999.
Famous quotes containing the words design and/or systems:
“The reason American cars dont sell anymore is that they have forgotten how to design the American Dream. What does it matter if you buy a car today or six months from now, because cars are not beautiful. Thats why the American auto industry is in trouble: no design, no desire.”
—Karl Lagerfeld (b. 1938)
“What is most original in a mans nature is often that which is most desperate. Thus new systems are forced on the world by men who simply cannot bear the pain of living with what is. Creators care nothing for their systems except that they be unique. If Hitler had been born in Nazi Germany he wouldnt have been content to enjoy the atmosphere.”
—Leonard Cohen (b. 1934)
