Open NAND Flash Interface Working Group

The Open NAND Flash Interface Working Group (ONFI or ONFi with a lower case "i"), is a consortium of technology companies working to develop open standards for NAND flash memory chips and devices that communicate with them. The formation of ONFI was announced at the Intel Developer Forum in March 2006.

The group's goals notably do not include the development of a new consumer flash memory card format. Rather, ONFI seeks to standardize the low-level interface to raw NAND flash chips, which are the most widely used form of non-volatile memory circuits today; in 2006, nearly one trillion MiB of flash memory was incorporated into consumer electronics, and production was expected to double in 2007.

Famous quotes containing the words open, flash, working and/or group:

But let me open up my heart to you completely, my friends: if there were gods, how could I bear not being a god! Hence, there are no gods. I drew this conclusion, to be sure—but now it draws me.

I watched Satan fall from heaven like a flash of lightning.
    Bible: New Testament, Luke 10:18.

Educators are aware that they can reach the youth only by making use of gang spirit and guiding it, not by working against it.
    Johan Huizinga (1872–1945)

Once it was a boat, quite wooden
and with no business, no salt water under it
and in need of some paint. It was no more
than a group of boards. But you hoisted her, rigged her.
    She’s been elected.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)
