Open Book is a technical rock climbing route at Tahquitz Peak, CA. Since the Yosemite Decimal System was developed at Tahquitz it is no coincidence that the first climb to be rated 5.9, Open Book, is also located at Tahquitz. In 1952, when Royal Robbins climbed it free, it was one of the most difficult free ascents in the country.
Famous quotes containing the words open and/or book:
“I not deny
The jury, passing on the prisoners life,
May in the sworn twelve have a thief or two
Guiltier than him they try. Whats open made to justice,
That justice seizes.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
“What has influenced my life more than any other single thing has been my stammer. Had I not stammered I would probably ... have gone to Cambridge as my brothers did, perhaps have become a don and every now and then published a dreary book about French literature.”
—W. Somerset Maugham (18741965)
