Geography
The area is located in the northeastern part of Kirovograd region. The territory area is bordered in the north of Poltava region, east of Dnipropetrovsk region to the southwest of Alexandria area and Dnipropetrovsk region, in the west of Svitlovodsk area. The territory of the district is 889 km ² (3,6% of area). The administrative center is the village Onufriivka.
