Online traffic school refers to a traffic school course that is completed over the Internet. These courses are similar in content to a traditional classroom traffic school course; however, online / internet traffic school allows the student to complete the course on his own time and at his own pace. Online / internet traffic school programs were born out of the concept of “home-study” traffic school and the increasing popularity of the Internet. The main purpose of taking a traffic school course is to maintain a clean driving record, and preventing a point from the DMV point system being added to your driving record. Points on your DMV record adversely affect vehicle insurance premiums, job opportunities and possible driver's license loss or suspension. The first "Online traffic school" was Traffic School Online, founded by Steve Soldis of Santa Rosa, California in Late 1996. The second On-Line Traffic School, Inc. (Olts.com). It was launched in March, 1997 in the Los Angeles Court System. Since that time, several other online traffic schools have popped up including: Save Time Traffic School (savetimetrafficschool.com), Go To Traffic School (gototrafficschool.com) and TrafficSchool.com.

Famous quotes containing the words traffic and/or school:
“Too much traffic with a quotation book begets a conviction of ignorance in a sensitive reader. Not only is there a mass of quotable stuff he never quotes, but an even vaster realm of which he has never heard.”
—Robertson Davies (b. 1913)
“After school days are over, the girls ... find no natural connection between their school life and the new one on which they enter, and are apt to be aimless, if not listless, needing external stimulus, and finding it only prepared for them, it may be, in some form of social excitement. ...girls after leaving school need intellectual interests, well regulated and not encroaching on home duties.”
—Ellen Henrietta Swallow Richards (18421911)
