One Day Love

"One Day Love" was the Irish entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1971, performed in English by Angela Farrell.

The song is a ballad, with Farrell singing to a former lover. She tells him that he is known for loving others very briefly (just one day, in fact) before moving on to his next romantic conquest. As well as singing about her own feelings on this matter and those of others, she warns him that "One day soon, very soon/Deep in love you will fall/And the one that you want/Will not answer your call".

The song was performed thirteenth on the night, following Sweden's Family Four with "Vita vidder" and preceding the Netherlands' Saskia & Serge with "Tijd". At the close of voting, it had received 79 points, placing 11th in a field of 18.

It was succeeded as Irish representative at the 1972 contest by Sandie Jones with "Ceol an Ghrá".

Famous quotes containing the words day and/or love:

The UN is not just a product of do-gooders. It is harshly real. The day will come when men will see the UN and what it means clearly. Everything will be all right—you know when? When people, just people, stop thinking of the United Nations as a weird Picasso abstraction, and see it as a drawing they made themselves.
    Dag Hammarskjöld (1905–1961)

The love of freedom has been the quality of Western man.
    Robinson Jeffers (1887–1962)
