Ondrej Nepela Memorial

The Ondrej Nepela Memorial (Slovak: Memoriál Ondreja Nepelu) is an annual senior-level international figure skating competition. Named after 1972 Olympic gold medalist Ondrej Nepela, the competition has been held annually since 1993. The competition is generally held in Slovakia's capital, Bratislava, except 2009 when it was held in Piešťany. In most years, medals are awarded in four disciplines – men's singles, ladies' singles, pairs, and ice dancing.

Famous quotes containing the word memorial:

When I received this [coronation] ring I solemnly bound myself in marriage to the realm; and it will be quite sufficient for the memorial of my name and for my glory, if, when I die, an inscription be engraved on a marble tomb, saying, “Here lieth Elizabeth, which reigned a virgin, and died a virgin.”
    Elizabeth I (1533–1603)
