Once Was Not

Once Was Not is the fifth album by Canadian technical death metal band Cryptopsy.

Once Was Not is the first album to feature original vocalist Lord Worm since 1996's None So Vile, and would be his last with the band. It is also the first album not to feature original guitarist Jon Levasseur. Unlike previous albums, where Lord Worm's lyrical content consisted of gore, blasphemy, and sex, his lyrics on Once Was Not dealt with topics that affect the human race, such as war, famine, plague, and death.

A digipack edition was released, limited to 10,000 copies, which comes in an embossed digipack with an entirely gold-ink-printed booklet.

A video was filmed for the track "The Pestilence That Walketh in Darkness".

Famous quotes containing the words was not, once, was and/or not:

It was not that she was out of temper, but that the world was not equal to the demands of her fine organism.
George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)

The nation looked upon him as a deserter, and he shrunk into insignificancy and an earldom.... He was fixed in the house of lords, that hospital of incurables, and his retreat to popularity was cut off; for the confidence of the public, when once great and once lost, is never to be regained.
Philip Dormer Stanhope, 4th Earl Chesterfield (1694–1773)

If you press me to tell why I loved [my friend], I feel that this cannot be expressed, except by answering: Because it was he, because it was I.
    Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)

It’s perversion. Don’t you see what it is? It’s not natural. To go to great expense for something you want, that’s natural. To reach out to take it, that’s human, that’s natural. But to get your pleasure from not taking, from cheating yourself deliberately like my brother did today, from not getting, from not taking. Don’t you see what a black thing that is for a man to do? How it is to hate yourself?
    Abraham Polonsky (b. 1910)
