Sachedina completed the International Baccalaureate Program while attending Port Moody Secondary School in British Columbia. He has a degree in Political Science and Philosophy from McGill University in Montreal, a Masters in Journalism from Columbia University in New York, and is a graduate of The Poynter Institute in St. Petersburg, Florida.
