The Real GDP growth at the time was recorded at a healthy 6.2% for the fiscal year 2005-06 but subsequently, various problems such as heavy burden of taxation on the lower-income groups, low industrial output and low direct foreign investments, compounded by the situation resulting from Pakistan's involvement in the War against Terror and its attendant fallout, brought the country to the verge of bankruptcy.

Famous quotes containing the word career:
“Never hug and kiss your children! Mother love may make your childrens infancy unhappy and prevent them from pursuing a career or getting married! Thats total hogwash, of course. But it shows on extreme example of what state-of-the-art scientific parenting was supposed to be in early twentieth-century America. —Lawrence Kutner (20th century)

—George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)

—Margaret S. Mahler (18971985)
