Serotonergic Drugs
Serotonergic psychedelics such as psilocybin and LSD activate 5-HT (serotonin) receptors. Studies have shown that the serotonin systems affected by such serotonergic drugs are linked to the NMDA/glutamate systems. Tests on rats indicate that 5-HT agonists like LSD and psilocybin prevent the neurotoxicity caused by NMDA receptor antagonists.
