PBS and WGBH made a series of TV movies with Jean Shepherd, as part of American Playhouse, based on the fictional Parker family, including The Great American Fourth of July and Other Disasters, The Star-Crossed Romance of Josephine Cosnowski, and The Phantom of the Open Hearth. The theatrical sequel to A Christmas Story was Shepherd's 1994 My Summer Story(It Runs in the Family), which follows a younger Ralphie than in Ollie.
