The Old City of Zuoying (Chinese: 左營舊城), also known as the Old City of Fengshan County (Chinese: 鳳山縣舊城), is a walled city located in Tsoying, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. It was built during the Qing rule period and is one of the first Taiwanese cities fortified by a defensive wall. The city was administrated under the Fongshan County (鳳山縣) of the Taiwan Prefecture (台灣府).
Famous quotes containing the word city:
“The city sleeps and the country sleeps,
The living sleep for their time, the dead sleep for their time,
The old husband sleeps by his wife and the young husband sleeps by his wife;
And these tend inward to me, and I tend outward to them,
And such as it is to be of these more or less I am,
And of these one and all I weave the song of myself.”
—Walt Whitman (18191892)
