Ohmori Harutoyo

Ōmori Harutoyo (大森 治豊?, December 20, 1852 - February 19, 1912) was a Japanese surgeon and first president of Kyoto Imperial University extension campus Fukuoka medical school (京都帝国大学福岡医科大学, Kyoto Teikoku daigaku Fukuoka ika-daigaku?), now Kyushu University.

His statue is on Kyushu University Maidashi campus. He was born in Yamagata prefecture and in 1879 graduated from Tokyo University, in same year he went to a new post in Fukuoka Medical School. The second sergeant class of Kyushu University medical school was opened by professor Ōmori Harutoyo in May 1903. In 1885 Ōmori, when he was working at Fukuoka Medical School, he performed the first cesarean operation in Japan, and incised the trachea of a baby and revived him.
