Other Word Authorities
Unlike the Official Scrabble Players Dictionary, OWL is a list and does not include definitions. OWL also contains words not included in OSPD because they are considered offensive, and a number of other additional words (mostly registered trademarks). Print versions of OWL can be purchased only through the NSA.
OWL is supplemented by the NSA Dictionary Committee's Official Long Word List, which includes all acceptable 10 to 15 letter words not already included in the OWL. The word list was compiled using Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, 10th edition.

Famous quotes containing the words word and/or authorities:
“The vines of her arms
didnt cling to the ends of his clothes,
or did she plant herself in the doorway,
hurl herself at his feet,
or utter the word Stay!
But as that fool began to go
at the time when it was dark with swarming clouds,
the slim girl blocked her lovers way
with only a rising river
made with her flood of tears.”
—Amaru (c. seventh century A.D.)
“Some authorities hold that the young ought not to lie at all. That, of course, is putting it rather stronger than necessary; still, while I cannot go quite so far as that, I do maintain, and I believe I am right, that the young ought to be temperate in the use of this great art until practice and experience shall give them that confidence, elegance and precision which alone can make the accomplishment graceful and profitable.”
—Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (18351910)
