Political Barriers
Obstacles or difficulties which groups of citizens, their political representatives, political parties or countries interpose to each other in order to hinder the actions of certain of their opponents, such as:
- the prevention of a political minority group to achieving their aspirations in the parliament by the politically dominant voting majority, in the legislative procedure;
- the ideological repression, persecution and imprisonment for political reasons;
- the blocking of the international political and economic influence of a country by a multilateral treaty or alliance between countries opposed to such influence.

Famous quotes containing the words political and/or barriers:
“All over this land women have no political existence. Laws pass over our heads that we can not unmake. Our property is taken from us without our consent. The babes we bear in anguish and carry in our arms are not ours.”
—Lucy Stone (18181893)
“... so far from entrenching human conduct within the gentle barriers of peace and love, religion has ever been, and now is, the deepest source of contentions, wars, persecutions for conscience sake, angry words, angry feelings, backbitings, slanders, suspicions, false judgments, evil interpretations, unwise, unjust, injurious, inconsistent actions.”
—Frances Wright (17951852)
