English girl group Sugababes covered "Obsession" for their fourth studio album Taller in More Ways (2005). It was produced by Dallas Austin, engineered by Rick Shepphard, and mixed by Jeremy Wheatley. Group member Heidi Range initially recorded the song as a demo with Ashley Hamilton, although the group eventually decided to record it together for the album. Musically, the pop and synthpop track is similar to the original. Instrumentation consists of a guitar, bass guitar, drums and keys. The cover had a polarizing effect on music critics, some of whom criticized it as mediocre, while others considered it one of the album's standout tracks. The Sugababes performed the cover on their Taller in More Ways and Overloaded: The Singles Collection tours.
