Ducks Unlimited National Office
The western shore of the marsh is home to Ducks Unlimited national head office in Canada, in a building that also serves as a public Interpretive Centre for the marsh. Boardwalks from the Interpretive Centre allow public access to the marsh and dykes. The building of a head office and public facility so close to critical wildlife habitat was the cause of controversy in the 1980s. Opponents believed the traffic associated with the building would disturb the wildlife. These concerns have proven unfounded, as the wildlife have since grown quite accustomed to the building and its people (the building's roof is now a popular nesting site).

Famous quotes containing the words ducks, unlimited, national and/or office:
“The only ones who are really grateful for the war are the wild ducks, such a lot of them in the marshes of the Rhone and so peaceful ... because all the shot-guns have been taken away completely taken away and nobody can shoot with them nobody at all and the wild ducks are very content. They act as of they had never been shot at, never, it is so easy to form old habits again, so very easy.”
—Gertrude Stein (18741946)
“Whoever has had the experience of the moral sentiment cannot choose but believe in unlimited power. Each pulse from that heart is an oath from the Most High. I know not what the word sublime means, if it be not the intimations, in this infant, of a terrific force.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“Let us waive that agitated national topic, as to whether such multitudes of foreign poor should be landed on our American shores; let us waive it, with the one only thought, that if they can get here, they have Gods right to come.”
—Herman Melville (18191891)
“I thank those who were good enough to say something pleasant about the incoming administration, for I am glad to get it now. I heard of the man who went into office with a majority and went out with unanimity.”
—William Howard Taft (18571930)
