NZR DB Class - Withdrawal

Withdrawal

The remaining DB locomotives were withdrawn in the 1980s. DB 1024 was withdrawn in 1982 and 1145 in 1986, with the remainder out of service by the end of 1989 as part of the general drawdown on the locomotive fleet that took place at this time. All of these units were scrapped. Two of the DBR's – 1239 and 1241 – were withdrawn in the early 2000s as surplus to existing operational requirements and to serve as parts sources for the remaining units. They were scrapped at Hutt Workshops at some stage between 2003 and 2005.

Famous quotes containing the word withdrawal:

A bizarre sensation pervades a relationship of pretense. No truth seems true. A simple morning’s greeting and response appear loaded with innuendo and fraught with implications.... Each nicety becomes more sterile and each withdrawal more permanent.
    Maya Angelou (b. 1928)

A separation situation is different for adults than it is for children. When we were very young children, a physical separation was interpreted as a violation of our inalienable rights....As we grew older, the withdrawal of love, whether that meant being misunderstood, mislabeled or slighted, became the separation situation we responded to.
    Roger Gould (20th century)
