She was banned by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) after she tested positive for the anabolic steroid Methandienone for four years starting on 26 October 2011. Taylan missed so the London Olympics.
In October 2012, her suspension was shortened to two years that will allow her to return to action on 26 October 2013.
