Number Girl

Number Girl (ナンバーガール, Nanbā Gāru?) was a rock band formed in Fukuoka, Japan in August, 1995 by guitarist and vocalist Mukai Shutoku. They disbanded in 2002 following bassist Nakao Kentarou's departure from the band.

Number Girl played fast, guitar-driven rock similar to the Pixies, Sonic Youth, and Hüsker Dü. Over the course of seven years their sound evolved greatly, serving as a basis for Mukai's post-Number Girl project, Zazen Boys.

Famous quotes containing the words number and/or girl:

    To finish the moment, to find the journey’s end in every step of the road, to live the greatest number of good hours, is wisdom. It is not the part of men, but of fanatics, or of mathematicians, if you will, to say, that, the shortness of life considered, it is not worth caring whether for so short a duration we were sprawling in want, or sitting high. Since our office is with moments, let us husband them.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

    There was a little girl, she had a little curl
    Right in the middle of her forehead;
    And when she was good, she was very, very good,
    And when she was bad, she was horrid.
    Mother Goose (fl. 17th–18th century. There Was a Little Girl (attributed to Mother Goose)
