Class 72 is a four-car electric multiple unit built by AnsaldoBreda. The trains are 85.570 metres (280.74 ft) long, 3.100 metres (10.17 ft) wide and 4.250 metres (13.94 ft) tall. The trains have Jacobs bogies, weigh 157 tonnes (155 long tons; 173 short tons) and run on standard gauge track. The electric power is gathered by a pantograph from a 15 kV 16⅔ Hz AC overhead wire, and gives a power output of 2,550 kilowatts (3,420 hp). The trains have a maximum speed of 160 kilometres per hour (99 mph). There are eight doors per side, and a passenger capacity of 310 seated passengers. Each train has one handicap seating place and one toilet.
